53 newly licensed civil engineers honored

The College of Engineering honored CHMSU’s 53 newly licensed civil engineers in the BSCE Recognition and Thanksgiving Celebration held at Sugarland Hotel on February 6, 2024.

Dean Engr. Grace Gerona, BSCE program chairperson Geronemo Gotera III, and the faculty members of the College of Engineering congratulated the new civil engineers for their achievement in the November-December 2024 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination (CELE). CHMSU ranked as the 2nd top-performing school nationwide with an impressive 91.38% passing rate.

Joining Engr. Gerona in awarding certificates of recognition were VP for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas and VP for Administration Rosalinda Tuvilla.

The two-part recognition and thanksgiving celebration began with a worship service led by Engr. Roy Gerona with Rev. Marcelino Vasquez who led the prayer of dedication for the new civil engineers.

Engr. Jhonnel Catigan, the examinee with the highest rating among the batch, in his testimonial speech, said passing the board exam is the culmination of their hard work.

He thanked his parents, the faculty, staff, and administrators of the college and the university for their tireless support. He earned 88.05% rating during the CELE.

Engr. Sheilou Perez also urged the graduating class to hold on to their dreams adding that “challenges are not meant to break us, but to mold us.”

Engr. Juny Claro, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) student president for AY 2023-2024, encouraged the BSCE graduating class to uphold CHMSU’s legacy of excellence and strive to further elevate the university’s standing in the next CELE.

Meanwhile, Lester Garcho, president of the Association of Civil Engineering Students AY 2024-2025, accepted the challenge on behalf of Class 2025.

Engr. Michael Forton, Director for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, concluded the celebration by giving thanks and congratulations to the newly licensed and future engineers of CHMSU.
