CHED awards CHMSU for consistent standards, quality teacher education programs

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) for upholding the highest standards in ensuring the quality of its pre-service teacher education programs.

CHMSU is among the awardees in CHED’s Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Awards on April 2, 2025 at the Manila Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

Receiving the recognition are President Norberto Mangulabnan, Vice President for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas, Assistant VPAA Ma. Riza Manalo, College of Education Dean Ophelia Duayan, and University Secretary Mary Leanne Laganhon.

The commission also acknowledged CHMSU’s compliance with the CHED’s minimum standards, program accreditation, and performance in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian and CHED Commissioner J. Prospero de Vera III led the awarding of plaques to the outstanding Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the Philippines.

Also present in the ceremony was CHED VI Regional Director Raul Alvarez, who supported this milestone of CHMSU and other top-performing TEIs in Western Visayas.

The College of Education ranked 6th in the September 2024 LEPT (Elementary Level) with a 91.07% passing rate. 

Patricia Mae Maglaque, a Bachelor of Special Needs Education graduate, also placed 7th in the LEPTS with a score of 92.80%.
