Commencement Exercises 2025: Instructional Guidelines for Faculty and Staff

On June 18, 2025, candidates for graduation from the Alijis, Fortune Towne, and Talisay (Main) Campuses will officially march and receive their degrees at the SMX Convention Center, Bacolod City — with ceremonies scheduled in both the morning and afternoon.

To all faculty and staff assigned to participate in either ceremony, please be guided accordingly by the instructional guidelines provided. Your cooperation is essential to ensure a smooth and meaningful event for our graduates.

Call Time and Assembly

  • For the morning ceremony, call time is at 7:00 a.m., and the processional will start promptly at 7:30 a.m.
  • For the afternoon ceremony, call time is at 1:00 p.m., and the processional will start promptly at 1:30 p.m.
  • Assemble on the left side of the SMX main lobby, near the restrooms and the entrance to Function Hall 1.

Meals

  • Everyone is advised to have eaten a full meal before the start of the program; snacks will be served after the recessional.

Dress Code

  • Faculty members must arrive in their prescribed academic gowns and adhere to the dress code.
  • Female staff must wear Filipiniana, while male staff must wear Barong. The prescribed color should be cream or white. Bright colors are not allowed.

Attendance

  • Attendance for faculty will be checked by their respective deans; all staff attendance will be checked by the Human Resource team.

Processional

  • Marshals will lead the faculty and staff in the processional. Kindly follow their instructions.
  • Faculty members will form two lines and be escorted by the marshals to enter the stage for their formal entrance, then proceed to their designated seats (left and right sides of the stage).
  • Staff members will follow the faculty, also forming two lines and being escorted by the marshals to enter the stage for their entrance, then proceed to their assigned seats (left and right sides of the stage).

Decorum Reminders

  • Please help maintain a respectful and solemn atmosphere by refraining from loud conversations and other distractions during the event.
  • Please avoid taking or receiving phone calls during the ceremony.
  • Kindly refrain from exiting while the program is in progress and please follow the recessional order.
