BPI Foundation, CHMSU ink pact to promote financial education

The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University community warmly welcomed guests from BPI Foundation and representatives of the Bank of the Philippine Islands branches in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental during the Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony held at the University Library, Talisay Campus, August 19, 2025.

Through the MOA signing, CHMSU is now a partner of BPI Foundation in implementing the FinEd Unboxed program.

President Norberto Mangulabnan signed the agreement together with Executive Director Ma. Carmina Marquez. The signing was witnessed by Dean Marissa Quezon of the College of Business Management and Accountancy, Director for Internationalization and External Relations Rhoderick Samonte, and BPI Foundation’s Head for Financial Education and Art Management Manolo Roberto Nava and Program Manager Gladys Malapo.

FinEd Unboxed is BPI Foundation’s financial literacy program designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively. It utilizes various tools and methods, including interactive digital games like “Breakthrough”, to make learning about budgeting, saving, and investing more engaging and accessible. The program is customized to different audiences, including students, teachers, community members, and even front-line workers and OFWs.

The university president was accompanied by VP for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas, VP for Administration and Finance Rosalinda Tuvilla, AVPAA Ma. Riza Manalo, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Arjay Alvarado, College of Education Dean Ophelia Duayan, Fortune Towne Campus Executive Director Ruvy Tuble, University Secretary Mary Leanne Laganhon, Alumni Relations Director Melanie Proquez, Library and Information Services Director Jiji Berina, Advanced Education Program Director Jesusa Pineda, Director for Student Affairs and Services Maria Victoria Violanda, Director for Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development Jose Francis Bearneza, faculty, staff, and coordinators.

The ceremony was organized by the Center for Internationalization and External Relations.
