As we receive the ashes, we are reminded of our humble beginnings and our ultimate call to return to God.
This Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026, marks the start of our 40-day Lenten journey. It is a sacred time to “repent and believe in the Gospel,” seeking God’s mercy as we transform our hearts through prayer, fasting, and sacrifice.

Let us walk this path together with sincerity, preparing our spirits for the profound joy of the Resurrection.

Why do we Fast and Abstain?
Throughout this season, the Church calls us to practice fasting and abstinence not merely as a rule, but as a spiritual discipline. By choosing a simpler life and giving up certain pleasures, we are reminded that the true purpose of life is not found in temporary comforts, but in attaining perfect life and undying love—which is God.
These practices help us:
- Imitate Jesus’ temptation in the desert.
- Offer a sacrifice for Christ and His Church.
- Foster a physical hunger that reminds us of our deeper spiritual hunger for the Lord.
- Cultivate penance through simple acts of self-denial.
