Binalbagan Campus strengthens disaster readiness with earthquake drill

Students, faculty, and staff of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) Binalbagan Campus took part in a campus-wide earthquake drill, morning of October 12, 2026, reinforcing the community’s readiness for emergencies.

Organized by the Binalbagan Campus Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Office under Coordinator Ronie Kirt Sarimong, the exercise reintroduced the safety measures and evacuation protocols that every member of the university community should follow during an earthquake.

The drill was conducted in partnership with CHMSU-Savers Binalbagan, an accredited student-led response volunteer organization, Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), and the Red Cross Youth (RCY) Binalbagan Campus Chapter. It was also held in close coordination with the Municipality of Binalbagan DRRM Office.

The volunteers also took part in simulated emergency scenarios, giving them a practical refresher on responding to emergencies in real time.

The activity underscores CHMSU’s commitment to building a safe and resilient campus culture, where preparedness is a shared responsibility.
