The Negros Island Regional Screening Committee for the Bayanihan Media Awards (BMA) has extended its deadline for nominations to October 29, 2026, giving more media practitioners and organizations the chance to take part.
The BMA, organized by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, recognizes outstanding reporting on volunteerism. The Negros Island Regional Screening is chaired by Carlos Hilado Memorial State University through the Center for Internationalization and External Relations.
Main categories include Best Volunteerism Reporting in Print Media, Television, Radio, and Digital Media, open to both individuals and media organizations. Campus-based categories are also available for student publications, campus radio stations, campus websites, and student or campus social media units.
A Content Creator Special Award is open to independent content creators, influencers, vloggers, and podcasters not affiliated with a registered media organization, including non-Filipino creators residing in the Philippines whose content substantially features stories about the country or its people. The awards promote inclusivity and equality, and welcomes nominations regardless of sex, age, religion, race, class, ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
A nominee may qualify in multiple categories if they feature different content in each channel, and entries submitted to other award-giving bodies may be accepted if they meet BMA requirements. Media practitioners and organizations doing charity and volunteering work are not covered, as these fall under the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV).
Nominations should be sent via email to the BMA Negros Island Regional Screening Committee Chair at the Center for Internationalization and External Relations, Carlos Hilado Memorial State University, at cier@chmsu.edu.ph.
