The session was designed to strengthen students’ capacity to provide emotional support and develop practical skills essential for assisting individuals experiencing psychological distress. Participants learned evidence-based techniques for delivering psychological first aid, practicing empathy in crisis situations, and promoting mental wellness in their communities.

The workshop covered core PFA principles, including initial contact and engagement, safety assessment, stabilization techniques, information gathering, practical assistance, connection with social supports, and coping strategies. Students engaged in interactive exercises and case scenario discussions to reinforce their learning.

The training represented the Psychology Department’s ongoing commitment to providing students with hands-on learning experiences that complement their academic coursework and prepare them for real-world mental health challenges.
