CHMSU, DLSU explore knowledge partnership

KNOWLEDGE PARTNERSHIP | Officials from Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) met with representatives from De La Salle University (DLSU) in a consultative meeting aimed at forging a knowledge partnership on October 18, 2024.

The collaboration focuses on advancing national policies on women and children, while aligning with the Philippine Development Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Francisco Magno, Full Professor of Political Science and Development Studies at DLSU, led the discussion by outlining the partnership’s goals.

These include enhancing CHMSU’s role in implementing policies for women and children, and contributing to broader national development objectives.

Joining the meeting from CHMSU were President Norberto Mangulabnan, Vice President for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas, Vice President for Administration and Finance Rosalinda Tuvilla, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property Andrew Eusebio Tan, Assistant VPAA Ma. Riza Manalo, as well as deans and unit directors.

Professor Magno, who serves as the Director of the Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance at DLSU, was accompanied by CHMSU Adjunct Professor Eddie Nuque.

The partnership aims to generate a comprehensive baseline assessment of policy implementation for women’s and children’s welfare in Negros Occidental. Additionally, it seeks to promote sustainable, science-based reforms and to foster stakeholder engagement in shaping policies and practices that protect women’s and children’s rights.

This initiative also intends to integrate the SDGs into CHMSU’s academic and research programs, as well as its community extension activities, reinforcing the university’s commitment to inclusive development.
