CHMSU joins Bacolod City’s climate, environment council

In line with its commitment to climate action and environmental conservation, Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) participated in the inaugural meeting of the Bacolod City Climate Change and Environment Council as one of its pioneer members on February 13, 2024, at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Established through Executive Order No. 002, series of 2025, signed by Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, the council convened its first meeting under the leadership of City Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella, Chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Ecology. 

Representing CHMSU is Director for Internationalization and External Relations Rhoderick Samonte.

This milestone marks a collaborative effort between the local government and institutions like CHMSU in addressing climate challenges and promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Among the members of the committee were Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation, Inc., Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation, Inc., Negrosanon Initiative for Climate  and Environment, and Negrosanon Young Leaders Initiative which are partners of CHMSU as well.
