The Office of Gender and Development of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University recently attended the 10th Annual National Gender and Development (GAD) Conference for Advocators in Education and Industries, which was held on October 9-11, 2024, at the Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Alijis Campus GAD Coordinator Ma. Hanna Grace Lopez, Binalbagan Campus GAD Coordinator Rose Regala, and Fortune Towne Campus GAD Coordinator Ann Charyl Gallo represented the university at the event.
The conference was hosted by the Philippine Association of Gender and Development Advocators in Education and Industries, Inc, (PAGDAEII) in partnership with the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PHILSCA) and in Coordination with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
Themed “Capability Enhancement on GAD Planning and Budgeting and Research Summit for a Responsive and Genuine Institutional Transformation,” the conference commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony, during which keynote speakers emphasized the importance of gender and development in fostering inclusive and equitable growth in education and industries.
The participants engaged in various workshops and sessions focused on enhancing their skills in GAD planning and budgeting. These sessions aimed to equip advocates with the necessary tools and knowledge to integrate gender perspectives into their work effectively.
A significant part of the conference was the research summit, where researchers presented their findings on gender and development.
The summit provided a platform for sharing innovative ideas and best practices that can drive institutional transformation.
Research moderators
During the parallel plenary sessions, the CHMSU GAD participated as research moderators. The conference featured panel discussions with experts from various fields who shared their experiences and insights on implementing GAD initiatives.
