Officers of the CHMSU Student Government and the Social Science Guild collaborated with the Malingin Leaders Youth Association for Change (MLYAC) and the RTMNHS Student Council in conducting the 7th Year of Skwelanihan (Bayanihan para sa mga bata nga naga eskwela) at the Ramon Torres Malingin National High School in Brgy. Malingin, Bago City on August 21, 2022. Skwelanihan is an annual project initiated by Kagawad Lester “Icy” Nonallada and was stopped for the past two years due to the pandemic. It was revived in time for the opening of face-to-face classes.
After a short opening program and fun games in the presence of Bago City Councilors Marina Javellana-Yao and Jake Patrick Y. Torres, Brgy. Captain Janet L. Yasay, Kagawad Lester “Icy” Nonallada, RTMNHS Principal Roger Raymundo, RTMNHS-SSG adviser Freida Rose D. Bazar, and CHMSU Director for External Affairs Rhoderick K. Samonte, the student leaders and volunteers distributed a total of 100 school kits to the most disadvantaged children of Brgy. Malingin.
Aside from the SG and SSG officers, student leaders from the following clubs took part in the distribution of school supplies: Organization of Science Students and Enthusiasts, Psychology Society, Student Society of Physical Education Majors, Unit 1 College of Education SEC, Unit 2 College of Industrial Technology SEC, and Unit 3 College of Arts and Sciences SEC. Rowena J. Tuscano, University-wide Culture and the Arts Coordinator and Jarebeth M. Banggoy, PhD, SG Talisay Campus adviser also took part in the outreach activity.
