SIFI (Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc.) officials and its international partners (American Sugar Refining, Inc., Nestle Philippines, and Proforest Malaysia) met with the research and extension teams of the College of Arts and Sciences in a round table discussion (RTD) last October 5, 2022 to discuss the ongoing engagement of SIFI and CHMSU through Project PEACE and the PPE assessment research led by Rhoderick K. Samonte. The international partners were pleased with the collaboration and expressed commitment to give more support to strengthen the partnership and to expand the current programs for the benefit of the sugar industry and the sugar workers and farmers of Negros Occidental. Present in the meeting were SIFI President and COO Edith Y. Villanueva, SIFI RSS & RAC Technical Consultant Judy Ann Gonzaga, Melissa Chin, Su Shen Phan, and Jayashree Kanniah of Proforest Malaysia, Rafael Vaya of the American Sugar Refining Group (ASR), Crystal Jimeno of Nestle Philippines, Vice President for Research and Extension Andrew Eusebio S. Tan, PhD, Director for Graduate Studies and Continuing Education Ma. Rosa Caraballe, PhD, Social Science Program Chairperson Robert Pardillo, PhD, ECS Coordinator April B. Abrera, RDS Coordinators Roxanne M. Rivera, PhD and Arlene Visitacion, and Lorena Romero.
