CHMSU, SRA explores collaboration for sugar industry

The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) met with representatives of higher education institutions on Feb. 14, 2025, at the SRA Bacolod Office to explore future collaborations to advance the sugar industry.

SRA Deputy Administrator for Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Atty. Ignacio Santillana led the discussions, joined by key officials and representatives from both SRA and partner institutions.

Representatives from the two academic institutions were led by CHMSU Director for Internationalization and External Relations Rhoderick Samonte and TUPV Campus Director Eric Malo-oy.

Also present were SRA Board Member (Planters’ Representative) Dave Andrew Sanson, RDE Department Manager Helen Lobaton, Chief Agriculturist Ma. Lourdes Almodiente of the Extension and Technical Services Division, and SIDA Coordinator Alfredo Carballo Jr.

The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening research and development efforts for the sugar industry through academic collaboration.
