CHMSU student poster painting champion at SUC Fair 2024

Rainer Cosas, an incoming second-year BS Industrial Technology major in Fashion and Apparel Technology student at CHMSU Talisay Campus, won as the champion of “Pintar: Poster Painting Competition” besting other student artists nationwide at the State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Fair 2024 in Zamboanga City recently.

Cosas won a medal and cash prize of P30,000 after creating his masterpiece inspired by the theme “Weaving Culture and Innovations for a Transformative, Resilient, and Globally-Recognized Philippine Higher Education.”

CHAMPION. Rainer Cosas, an incoming second-year BS Industrial Technology major in Fashion and Apparel Technology student at CHMSU Talisay Campus, emerged as the champion of “Pintar: Poster Painting Competition” at the SUC Fair 2024 in Zamboanga City recently.

Cosas shared that he had only two weeks to prepare for the competition. “Every night, I did quick sketches of my piece to familiarize myself and remember what I had conceptualized,” he said.

He practiced different styles and compositions and sought feedback from his coach, Raynor Ereje, and friends.

The 2024 edition of the SUC Fair was organized by the Commission on Higher Education and hosted by Western Mindanao University. The poster painting competition was held on July 10 and the winners were awarded during the culmination ceremony on July 11.

“The help from my coach and mentors was invaluable. Their advice played a big part in creating my piece. Searching on the internet also aided me in conceptualizing my piece,” Cosas said.

Elated, Cosas said he only dreamed of placing in a regional competition way back in high school.

“I can’t believe I have won this national title. I’m grateful to everyone who believed in me and supported my journey. Winning this title validates my hard work and dedication to my piece,” he said.

Cosas fully concentrates on adding details to his piece during the competition day on July 10.

Cosas added, “I want to thank my family, friends, mentors, and peers for their support and encouragement throughout this journey. Their advice, feedback, and belief in me have been very helpful. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this amazing experience.”
