CHMSU Successfully Conducts Day 2 of FOSTER Week 2025 Across Four Campuses

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) continued its FOSTER Week 2025 with comprehensive orientation activities across four campuses, welcoming new students to the university.

The second day of activities focused on college-specific orientations, campus tours, and signature hunts designed to familiarize incoming students with academic programs and university life.

Alijis Campus Activities

Freshmen gathered early for the continuation of activities. The day featured booths from various clubs and organizations showcasing activities for new students, followed by signature hunts and guided campus tours for each college. Academic program orientations were conducted by the College of Computer Studies, College of Engineering, College of Industrial Technology, and College of Education, with program chairpersons leading their respective sessions.

Binalbagan Campus Highlights

CHMSU Binalbagan Campus conducted college orientations welcoming students from all year levels. Sessions were organized by college, beginning with the College of Education (COED), followed by the College of Computer Studies (CCS), and concluding with the College of Fisheries (COF).

First-year students, transferees, and returning students participated in comprehensive campus tours covering the College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA), and College of Computer Studies (CCS). The tours were designed to help students explore university facilities and available services.

Fortune Towne Campus Highlights

The CHMSU-Fortune Towne campus opened the day with “Freshies’ Walk”, where officers from different clubs and organizations welcomed first-year students with enthusiasm. Student leaders formed welcoming lines throughout the facility, creating an atmosphere of celebration and school spirit.

Ma. Teresa Jalasco, Culture and Arts Coordinator, presented the university’s culture and arts programs to acquaint new students with available opportunities.

Charyl Ann M. Gallo, Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator, followed with an educational session on GAD objectives and initiatives.

Talisay Campus Activities

At the University Gymnasium, the morning session began with a general orientation led by Ma. Victoria Violanda, Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Director. Following the general session, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) conducted its orientation program featuring opening remarks by Dean Arjay Alvarado. The program included faculty and staff introductions, curriculum presentations covering academic policies and program profiles, and introductions of CAS Student Council Officers and academic clubs.

The College of Education (COED) held parallel sessions led by Dean Ophelia Duayan, who introduced program chairpersons and facilitated presentations on academic policies and achievements. Faculty and staff were introduced by program area to help students connect with their respective departments.

The orientation and campus tour programs are designed to prepare students for the academic year by helping them familiarize themselves with the university community and fostering a sense of belonging as they begin their educational journey at CHMSU.
