The CHMSU community warmly welcomed the West Visayas State University – Janiuay Campus delegation during a benchmarking activity held this morning, June 24, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room, LSA Building, Talisay Campus.
University President Norberto Mangulabnan personally received the delegation, led by School of ICT Director Patrick Mark Armada, ahead of the formal discussions.
He was accompanied in the courtesy by BS Information Technology Chairperson Pauline Torion, Research, Innovation, and Extension Director Alma Jean Subong, and Head of Student Affairs Marie Rosette Cainday.
The WVSU-JC delegation, composed of 23 executives, faculty, and staff, is in Talisay City to benchmark with CHMSU’s College of Computer Studies, the college’s research and extension programs, as well as the university’s information communication technology services operations.
VP for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas welcomed the visitors from Iloilo to kick off the benchmarking activity.
Research and Development Services Director Ricky Acanto, Extension and Community Services Coordinator Retchell Ortega, College of Computer Studies Dean Engr. Joe Marie Dormido, Information Communication Technology Director Engr. Russel Dela Torre, and ICT-MIS Head Benrie Nufable gave brief presentations on the processes and practices of their respective college and units.
Also joining panel during the open forum were Assistant VPAA Ma. Riza Manalo, ECS Director Roger Ray Manzano, and Deputy Director for Research Ethics Ivy Aboy.
The benchmarking activity was packed with insights on how both universities are addressing academic challenges such as sustainability and the mainstreaming of articificial intelligence.
The WVSU-JC visitors are also in town to conduct their annual capability-building activity at the Campuestohan Highland Resort.
