The students of the Hospitality Management Program who represented Carlos Hilado Memorial State University reaped a total of eight medals–two golds, two silvers, and five bronzes– along with diploma citations in the 2nd Mayor Albee Masskanamit Culinary Showdown held at SMX Convention Center, October 15-17, 2024.
the 2nd Masskanamit tilt is part of the 8th Sabor Bisaya and 15th National Food Showdown Competition where over 300 participants from hospitality management and culinary schools in the province joined.
Under the Food and Beverage Category, Rodolfo Fuentes III (BSHM 3) secured gold in the Coffee Concoction Competition. He was coached by faculty member Gilbert Taguines.
Meanwhile, the duo of John Mark Esquiran (BSHM 3) and Duke Aleck Cuaysing (BSHM 4) harvested gold in the Fruit and Vegetable Carving Competition guided by coach Tricia Tipon.
Under the same category, John Patrick Maderazo (BSHM 4) and Bernadette Joy San Jose each won bronze in the Flair Tending and Mocktail Mixing competitions, respectively. They are both supervised by Taguines as well.
In the Events Planning Competition, the team senior students Shane Chavez, Arianah Dimson, and Argie Ronan Ginolos clinched the bronze medal together with coach Nieves Barato.
Isaias Landero and Jean Rose Garche (BSHM 3) also received a diploma citation as one of the competitors in Floral Centerpiece Arrangement. They were guided by coach Taguines.
For the Culinary Category, Cindy Meleganio and Maria Fe Espacio (BSHM 2) also won silver in the Plated Kakanin Competition. They were also coached by Barato.
The team of Adrian Panes and Mark Rovic Villacasten (BSHM 2) garnered points to secure a silver medal in the Vegetable Kitchen Competition.
Ralph John Bangoy (BSHM II) also received a diploma citation for competing in the Pica-Pica Contest. Both entries were coached by faculty member Tipon.
In the Sweet Revenge Category, the trio of Paulyn Belegorio, Remerose Arcenal, and Maria Jonah Isabel Dolaota (BSHM 4) won bronze in the Wedding Cake Contest.
Angel Saura (BSHM 4) also won bronze in the Baby Cake Contest. Both winners were coached by Marnyl John Abeto.
Azetian Carl Marie Tolentino (BSHM 4) received a diploma citation for competing in the Panghimagas – Flambe Contest. She was coached by faculty member Barato.*
