JCI Bacolod awards 4 CHMSU student-leaders for excellence, leadership 

JCI Bacolod, Inc. lauded four students of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University during the recent 54th The Outstanding Students (THOS) Awards 2025 and the 40th Youth Leadership Excellence Award (YLEA) held on June 7, 2025, at CityMall Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

Dermelyn Irish Hinojales, President of the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government was hailed as one of THOS awardees for 2025.

JCI Bacolod also recognized Hinojales, a Bachelor of Public Administration fourth-year student, as this year’s Best SDG Advocacy Awardee and one of the Youth Leadership Excellence Awardees.

Also bestowed the YLEA were Dierdre Rossell Azucena, Ivan Jay Esmino, and Alliah Shane Salditos.

The CHMSUan young leaders were accompanied by Student Affairs and Services Director Maria Victoria Violanda in the awards ceremony.

Through THOS and YLEA, JCI Bacolod recognizes students who excel in academics, leadership, and community service, to inspire the youth to create positive change.

Azucena is the Editor-in-Chief of The Technopacer Talisay and a graduating Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English.

Meanwhile, Esmino and Salditos are senior BS Accountancy students at the Fortune Towne Campus.

Both are officers of the Negros Occidental Confederation – Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NECONFED JPIA). Esmino and Salditos are the outgoing president and secretary of the organization, respectively.

“These awards hold the weight of countless prayers, sacrifices, and moments of quiet perseverance,” said Hinojales, who is also the president of the University Student Government at the Talisay Campus.

She honored God, her family, and mentors whose “love and support remain the foundation of my strength.”

She also credited her success to her friends, colleagues, peers, and organizations that have been instrumental to her growth as a leader.

“CHMSU truly stands as a powerhouse of excellence, producing board topnotchers, nation-builders, and outstanding students recognized with honors like THOS—a recognition I now humbly carry,” she added.

The awards also align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting quality education, strong institutions, and active participation in community development.

Through these recognitions, JCI encourages young individuals to lead with purpose and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
