Love the Earth Workshop held on Earth Day

Class mayors and student-leaders at the Talisay Campus learned to love the planet more during the global Earth Day celebration through the Love the Earth Workshop held at the Global Learning Cafe, April 22, 2025.

Organized by CIER and Greening CHMSU Task Force in collaboration with the Office for Students Affairs and Services, the workshop tapped student-leaders to take an active role in the solid waste management efforts and innovation of the university.

CIER Director and Greening CHMSU Overall Chair Director Rhoderick Samonte led the discussion on CHMSU’s updated Ecological Waste Management System.

During his session, Samonte also answered queries on the updated policy signed by President Norberto Mangulabnan on march 14, 2025.

The Love the Earth Workshop continued with an insightful session on Sagup Negros and how students can collaborate with CHMSU alumnus and NYLI Project Officer Genrick Catalonia in advancing sustainability efforts.

Catalonia shed light on the critical link between food waste and the climate crisis, urging student-leaders to not only support ongoing initiatives but to create innovative solutions that reduce food wastage.

The workshop, which mainly focuses on the reorientation of the university’s updated EWMS policy, is set to be conducted in the external campuses.
