On June 28, 2025, the CHMSU Security Unit from all campuses participated in the whole-day Training on Fundamentals of Campus Security and Emergency Response organized by the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance, held at the Function Hall of the Talisay Campus.
The morning session, facilitated by Allen Pablo with assistance from CHMSU–Disaster Emergency Assistance and Rescue Services (CHMSU-DEARS), focused on situational awareness, emergency preparedness, and the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all campuses.
The participants were trained on whistle and hand signal use, the buddy-buddy system, equipment care, and the importance of maintaining ticklers and emergency kits.
The key emergency response topics were also discussed, including the Emergency Action Principle (EAP), first aid for open and closed wounds, and procedures for mass casualty incidents and the three hurry cases: breathing stoppage, severe bleeding, and poisoning. The session highlighted the need for discipline, readiness, and teamwork across the security unit.

In the afternoon, the training addressed institutional protocols and the professional responsibilities of campus security personnel.
The topics included CHMSU’s security policies, ID checks, logbook accuracy, and vehicle monitoring.
The security guards were reminded that beyond managing access points, they play an important role in maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment. The value of visibility, courteous assistance, and professionalism was emphasized.
A practical guidance was also given on writing factual and confidential incident reports, supported by accurate note-taking using pocket notebooks.
It was followed by a hands-on workshop followed, where participants practiced reporting scenarios.
The session, facilitated by VPAF staff Bobbie Dylanie Billones and Supervising Administrative Officer Sharon Juance, also covered the security inspection checklist, performance evaluation tools, and guard conduct.
The training concluded with a reaffirmation of the unit’s shared commitment to safety, order, and respect across all CHMSU campuses.
