CHMSU reaffirms its commitment to sustainability as representatives from its four campuses convened at the Conference Room, Talisay (Main) Campus, on March 7, 2025.
The meeting was called and led by Rhoderick Samonte, Director for Internationalization and External Relations and Greening CHMSU Chair.
The key discussions focused on eliminating single-use plastics, enforcing proper waste segregation, and enhancing waste reduction initiatives.

Rommel Flaviano, NOCDELIGHT FabLab Staff, brought sample products from the Blastik Project, such as Eco Bowls, tiles, and bag holders, while Janet Estimar, Ecological Solid Waste Management team leader, showcased various sample products, including sanitary envelopes, notepads, tarp bags, enviro blocks, paper charcoal, and a small bag of vermicast.
Ana Marie Pancho, the proponent of the Paperless Project Team, collaborated with Estimar on these initiatives.
CHMSU enforces a color-coded waste bin system and a structured disposal schedule to ensure proper waste management.

Among the proposals included banning plastic use in the canteen, repurposing plastic waste into furniture, and launching student-led projects utilizing the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and the Blastik Project.
The university also plans a “Likhang Bago” competition, an annual waste management exhibit, and regular campus clean-up drives to strengthen environmental awareness.
Faculty and staff are also urged to be role models in sustainable practices.
