RDSO conducts mixed methods research seminar workshop

The Research and Development Services Office (RDSO) recently held the Seminar Workshop on Mixed Methods Research, May 13-14, 2025, at the Audio Visual Room, CHMSU Talisay (Main) Campus.

The two-day workshop featured Director Jeremaiah Opiniano of the Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED) of the University of Santo Tomas.

Participated in by 60 faculty members from all colleges across all campuses, it aimed to introduce the philosophical foundations of mixed methods research to the participants in addressing complex research questions.

The participants also learned to create procedural diagrams and joint displays to visualize the integration of qualitative and quantitative data, as well as develop a feasible and methodologically sound mixed methods research plan, which incorporates appropriate data collection, analysis, and integration techniques.

By the end of 2025, the RDSO is expecting for all participants to submit a research proposal utilizing a mixed methods research design, and publish a research article.

The activity was organized by the RDSO, led by Director Ricky Acanto and Deputy Director for Ethics Review and Outsourcing Ivy Aboy.

It was also supported by University Statistician Alfredo Alave and Research Coordinator John Gerard Pilar of the College of Business Management and Accountancy.
