Hypertension awareness symposium held

In observance of Hypertension Awareness Month, the Medical Services Unit of CHMSU Talisay Campus, in collaboration with the Social Science Guild and the Student Society of Physical Education Majors, organized a symposium to promote high blood pressure awareness and overall wellness.

Guest speaker Nurse Dominic Requiña discussed the causes, prevention, and risks of hypertension, emphasized the importance of public health laws, and highlighted how these efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Requiña urged the participating faculty, staff, and students to maintain a healthy lifestyle and be proactive in managing their health.

He also advised working students, especially those on graveyard shifts, to avail themselves of the free check-ups at the university clinic.

Additionally, he cautioned against the frequent consumption of energy drinks, which may increase the risk of hypertension and damage vital organs such as the kidneys.
