Former solon, radio station manager take oath as members of CHMSU Board of Regents

Two new members of the Board of Regents of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University took their oath before Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Myrna Mallari, CHMSU BOR Chair-Designate, on the afternoon of October 22, 2025.

Former Negros Occidental Third District Representative Edith Villanueva, President and COO of the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI), and Station Manager Jeony Bigay of RMN DYHB Bacolod 747 are the new private sector representatives to the CHMSU Board of Regents for the term 2025–2027.

Villanueva and Bigay were elected by the Board of Regents during a special meeting held prior to the oath-taking ceremony.

Present at the special meeting in the Conference Room of the Main Campus were Commissioner Mallari, University President Norberto Mangulabnan, Alumni Representative Meo Mallorca, Student Representative Neil Kevin Natabio, and BOR Secretary Roy Ramos.

Commissioner Mallari and President Mangulabnan also awarded plaques of appreciation to outgoing private sector representatives Roberto Magalona of Gawad Kalinga and Socorro Victoria De Leon of Riverside Medical Center, Inc., in recognition of their years of service as members of the board.

Joining the special meeting virtually were DOST 6 Regional Director Rowen Gelonga, DEPDev 6 Regional Director Arecio Casing Jr., DA NIR OIC-Regional Executive Director Jose Albert Barrogo, Faculty Representative Manuel Uy, and Atty. Jose Jonathan Ealdama, who represented Senator Loren Legarda.

The Board of Regents also honored former members and presented them with plaques of appreciation:

Former Alumni Representatives Rey Demisana and Prof. Jose Rabbi Malaga; former Faculty Representative Arlene Pasquin; and former Student Representatives Eljolyn Ponclara, Justin Pornales, Gemnell Verzosa, and Jezhiel Grace Vicera.
