In a meaningful step toward fostering a more inclusive and gender-responsive campus environment, the Binalbagan Campus of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) inaugurated its Childminding and Breastfeeding Area on May 12, 2026, a project spearheaded by the university’s Gender and Development (GAD) Office.

The blessing ceremony was led by Rev. Fr. Jun Estoque, and graced by Executive Director Joevelle Vergara, Binalbagan GAD Coordinator Rose Regala, along with faculty, staff, and students.

Adding a heartwarming touch to the occasion, children of CHMSU employees joined the symbolic inauguration, filling the event with youthful energy and joy.

The new facility reflects CHMSU’s ongoing commitment to mainstreaming gender equality across all its campuses.

The university’s GAD Office, currently led by Director Ana Mary Ann Pancho, works to educate the CHMSU community on gender concepts, address bias and discrimination, and uphold the laws and institutional policies that protect women’s rights and promote safe spaces.

The Childminding and Breastfeeding Area at the Binalbagan Campus stands as the latest fruit of CHMSU’s continued efforts, providing a dedicated, dignified space for nursing mothers and working parents within the CHMSU community.
