Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) culminated its 4th University Foundation Week with a series of university-wide Bionihan and CHMSUyanihan activities, a commitment to give back to the environment and the community on May 16, 2026.
Bionihan at Gawahon Eco-Park
Students, faculty, staff, and alumni marked the close of the 4th University Foundation Week with a native tree planting activity at Gawahon Eco Park in Victorias City, as part of the university-wide Bionihan initiative.
The activity brought together student-leaders from the Alijis, Fortune Towne, and Talisay Campuses — all alumni of the 7th RIPPLES Leadership Training Camp held in August 2025 — alongside volunteer faculty members, alumni, the Red Cross Youth – CHMSU Talisay Council, and members of TABBEA.
The event was organized by the Gender and Development Office, the Office for Student Affairs and Services, the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government, and the Center for Internationalization and External Relations.
In their messages GAD Director Ana Mary Ann Pancho, OSAS Director Maria Victoria Violanda, and CIER Director Rhoderick Samonte reminded the young leaders that environmental stewardship doesn’t end in the tree growing activity, it should continue in their respective campuses and ripples throughout their classes, friend groups, student clubs, and families.

Bionihan at Bacolod City Sanitary Landfill
The CHMSU Fortune Towne Campus conducted a native tree planting activity at the Bacolod City Sanitary Landfill, in partnership with the Bacolod City Environment and Natural Resources Office.
NSTP students, instructors, and staff were joined by the CHMSU Fortune Towne Faculty Association, led by its President, and currently BOR Faculty Representative, Engr. Manuel Uy, and Fortune Towne Campus Campus Executive Director Ruvy Tuble.

Bionihan in Binalbagan
The CHMSU Binalbagan Campus brought Bionihan to the coastlines of Binalbagan, with mangrove planting activities held across two sites as part of the culmination of the 4th University Foundation Week.
In the morning, ROTC officers and cadets planted mangroves along the coast of CHMSU Binalbagan in Brgy. Enclaro. In the afternoon, NSTP students made their way to Isla Nabuswang, Brgy. Canmoros, to continue the effort.

Bionihan in Talisay City
The Talisay Campus took Bionihan to the shoreline. The community made their way to Brgy. Zone 3 in Talisay City, where NSTP and ROTC students, faculty, staff, and enthusiastic volunteers from the College of Education came together to plant mangroves and give back to the environment.

CHMSUyanihan clean-up in Alijis Campus
The CHMSU Alijis Campus community came together for a cleanup drive as part of the university-wide CHMSUyanihan initiative.
Following a week of celebration, NSTP students, faculty, and staff turned their attention toward environmental responsibility — restoring the campus grounds and giving back to nature.

CHMSUyanihan clean-up in Talisay Campus
The Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property, alongside the Research and Development Services, Extension and Community Services, and the Intellectual Property Management Office, concluded the 4th University Foundation Week with a CHMSUyanihan cleanup drive and Bionihan tree growing activities at the Talisay (Main) Campus.
The activities were held on the grounds surrounding the Research, Innovation, and Extension Hub, led by VPREIP Ma. Riza Manalo, RDS Director Ivy Aboy, and ECS Director Wanny Jaron.
