CHMSU, SIFI bring fresh produce from farm to table

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), in partnership with the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI), held the Spot Market: Farm-to-Table Livelihood Expo on October 2, 2026, at the Administration Building Lobby of the CHMSU Talisay (Main) Campus, bringing fresh, locally sourced farm produce closer to the university community.

The activity featured three farmers from Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs). They represented the Victorias Organic Farm Association (VOFA), the Rita Balud Agrarian Reform Cooperative (RIBARC), and the Caridad Agriculture Cooperative (CAC).

The participating farmers offered a variety of fresh agricultural products, highlighting the quality and diversity of locally produced goods which were purchases and enjoyed by CHMSU faculty, staff, and students.

Organized through the Partnership for Empowerment, Advancement, and Continuing Education (PEACE) of ARBOs, a community extension and engagement program of the Department of Social Science under the College of Arts and Sciences, the initiative gave farmers an avenue to connect directly with consumers while promoting local agriculture and livelihood opportunities.

More than a marketplace, the recurring Farm-to-Table Livelihood Expo serves as a platform for supporting local farmers, strengthening community partnerships, and encouraging the university community to appreciate and support locally produced food.
