CHMSU invited Ateneo de Manila University and Mariano Marcos State University to share internationalization strategies in “Widening the Route to Internationalization” seminar on April 21, 2023 at the Function Hall, Green Building, Talisay (Main) Campus. Key officials, directors, deans, and department chairpersons participated in the activity.
Guest speakers from Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Maria Resurreccion P. Alejo, PhD, Head, Quality Management and Accreditation Strategy, and Alma Maria O. Salvador, Head, Ranking and Benchmarking Strategy and Quality Management shared ADMU’s internationalization journey, especially in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, where ADMU placed in the 351-400 bracket.
Alejo emphasized the importance of translating passion into something operational and highlighted the need to remember the institution’s purpose in Quality Management.
Salvador shared ADMUs strategies in the five pillars of THE: Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income, and International Outlook. She discussed major elements, success factors, and strategic data involved in addressing these pillars.
Third speaker Shirley C. Agrupis, PhD, SUC President IV, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), presented strategies and best practices of MMSU on internationalization. These included the University’s international assessments by forming cross-disciplinary teams, data analytics, and recalibrating systems. MMSU ranked in the 401-600 bracket of the THE World University Rankings.
Jay B. Estrellas, EdD, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said in his closing message that CHMSU is on the right track and is fortunate to have learned from top universities to enhance strategic directions. He added that the seminar is only one of many onboarding activities in line for internationalization and is grateful to all who attended and encouraged their continued cooperation.
