The Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT) and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) signed the Memorandum of Agreement marking the start of the workshop on “Using Pedagogical Translanguaging in Teaching English: Responding to the Challenges of MATATAG Curriculum,” on May 25, 2026.

The workshop held from May 25 to 26 at the Function Hall in Talisay (Main) Campus gathered university and high school faculty from schools in Negros Island and across the country who use English as a medium for teaching.
The agreement was signed by ACELT Executive Director Cecilia Suarez and Pres. Norberto Mangulabnan. It was witnessed by Prof. Marianne Rachel Perfecto of Ateneo de Manila University and Asst. VPAA Noralyn Esona on behalf of VPAA Engr. Russel Dela Torre.

Organized by the College of Arts and Sciences – BA English Language Program in partnership with the Center for Internationalization and External Relations, the two-day event featured interactive lectures, discussions, and hands-on workshops with Director Suarez and Prof. Perfecto as resource speakers.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Overall Workshop Chair Prof. Yvonne Velasco, BAEL Program Chair Ruth Nemenzo, and CIER Director Rhoderick Samonte.

The workshop gathered faculty from CHMSU, Bacolod Trinity Christian School, Capiz State University (CapSU) Dayao Satellite College and Dumarao Satellite College, Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod, Enrique B. Magalona National high School – Consing Extension, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Montevista Elementary School, Negros Occidental High School, Shiloh Christian School, Silay Hope Academy, and the University of the Cordilleras.
