CHMSU, CHEDRO NIR ink SIKAP pact to advance staff, instructors’ education

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office – Negros Island Region (CHEDRO NIR) and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University officially signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) in a ceremony held last August 28, 2025 at the CHED Sub-Regional Office in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The event was led by CHEDRO NIR Regional Director Raul Alvarez Jr. and witnessed by Officer in Charge Danebeth Narzoles of the Center for Educational Planning and Services, and Focal Paulo Cabanero of SIKAP in the region.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas, Scholarships Director Ma. Antonia Sitiota, and Director for Advanced Education Programs Jesusa Pineda represented CHMSU in the signing ceremony.

CHMSU was one of the four recognized Delivering Higher Education Institutions (DHEIs) in the province along with the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R), Central Philippine State University (CPSU), and University of St. La Salle – Bacolod (USLS)

Through the agreement, CHEDRO NIR formally recognized the compliance of CHMSU as an Approved DHEIs under CMO No. 09, Series of 2025.

This MOA signing marked a significant milestone in strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for professional development through the SIKAP Grant Program.
