The Gender and Development Office in partnership with the Public Health and Oncology Unit of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital held a medical mission at the CHMSU Talisay Dining Hall, March 13
The free medical mission aimed to create a solid awareness among the faculty, staff, and students of the four campuses of CHMSU about breast cancer, how to prevent it, and inform them that this kind of illness can be managed and prevented.
Faculty and staff from all four campuses availed of the free breast cancer screening while the students did the medical checkup.
The CLMMRH physicians were led by Dr. Kesia Lois Arcolas and Dr. Eirene Ayalin with Dr. Krizzia Garingalao, Dr. Precious Gregorio, Dr. Louise Angelica Dagcutan, and Dr. Ma. Pamela Damazo providing the free medical screening.
The medical mission was organized by the GAD Office led by Director Elvie Samson with coordinators Hanna Grace Lopez of Alijis campus, Rose Regala of Binalbagan campus, and Ann Charyl Gallo of the Fortune Towne campus.
Among those who availed of the free checkup was Ira Michel Tabuada, a BSEd major in English student.
“We can get a check-up without worrying about the medical fees. And it is beneficial to the students to access hassle-free public healthcare,” Tabuada said.
On March 12, the GAD Office organized the “Women’s Reproductive Health Issues and Concern: Prevention and Management” webinar with resource speakers oncologist Norman Cabaya and gynecologist Rose Joy David-Vallega.The webinar was streamed live on the official Facebook page of CHMSU where students, faculty, and staff from the four campuses.
