CHMSU joins 21st NegOcc prov’l wildlife month festivities

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) joined various activities and competitions in support of the 21st Provincial Wildlife Month this November.

Competing against 18 other contestants, he was coached by Alberto Dela Cruz.

Rhay Ann Jane Dulana, fourth year BS Fisheries, as joined the quiz bowl and was supported by coach Kervin Mahinay.

On November 17, the Artisan Society of Alijis Campus joined the Negros Wildlife Foot Parade and Headdress Competition.

Composed of second-year Bachelor Industrial Technology students, the CHMSUan delegation presented headdresses inspired by the bleeding heart pigeon, the Visayan leopard cat, and the Visayan hornbill.

Federico Denisa led the team of designers with Leo Labayno, Renier Ybanez, Mark Jalandoni, and Tricia Lim with their designs proudly worn by models Ara dela Fuente, Amber Divinagracia, and Cleofel Alcantara.

The CHMSU delegation took part in the parade that kicked off at the Capitol Lagoon and culminated at SM City Bacolod’s Main Atrium. The delegation’s participation was facilitated by CIER Alijis coordinator Charmaine Sabio.

On the same day, the performers from the Binalbagan Campus joined 12 other contingents in the Sayawit para sa Kalikasan, a competition where talent met environmental advocacy.

Wearing their creative costumes inspired by the golden-headed flying fox, the CHMSUan delegation performed their original song “Lupad sang Handom” composed by CHMSU Istoryador and Tunog Baybayon.

The performers were Rochelyn Cordano, Atasha Nicole Del Rio, Chriza Gayle Sabanal, Jan Marie Manato, Cybl Gail Tudillo, Jazren Advincula, Christian Bongaitan, John Mhelo Franco, Mark Andrew Gerenca, Zhandrison Germinal, Jun Cres Gicar, Christian Lapania, John Mar Sayson, and Troy Segovia.

Their costumers were designed by Willyn Solomon, Vico Edrian Sombiro, and Kent Sarad.

They were coached by Aniceto Olmedo and Eduard John Advincula, and guided by cultural coordinator RG Francisco and CIER Binalbagan Campus coordinator Sheila Ticar.
