Students from the BS Psychology program of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) attended the 4th Negros Occidental Mental Health Summit on October 18, 2025, at the Santuario De La Salle, University of St. La Salle – Bacolod. This year’s theme was “Positibo nga Sikolohiya: Gabay sa Pag-angot sa Nagabag-o nga Tiempos.”

The summit opened with a keynote address from Dr. Johnny B. Decatoria, RPsy, recognized for his work in psychosocial trauma and disaster debriefing in Negros. The event aimed to provide students and sector representatives with current perspectives on mental health, resilience, and community support.
The program included four sessions: “Flourishing with Tech and AI for Well-Being” led by Christine Lourdes P. Labayen, “Collective Resilience: How Communities Heal, Adapt, and Thrive Even in Crisis” presented by Janne Ly C. Gilpo; “The Joy of Journaling: One Habit to Flourish in a Fast-Paced World” discussed by Christine Joy T. Suarez, and “Mindful Making: Expressive Arts for Everyday Well-Being” facilitated by Venise T. Buenaflor.
The annual summit gathers students, educators, and mental health professionals to discuss emerging issues and strategies related to psychological well-being across communities in Negros Occidental.
