CHMSU Visayan Spotted Deers harvest medals at nat’l SCUAA

The Visayan Spotted Deers of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University clinched several medals during the National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) held in Mambajao, Camiguin from April 22 to 27, 2025.

In Arnis Women, Clarise Yvon Jonota won silver in the Live Stick for the Heavyweight category. At the same time, Elena Romero clinched the silver for Live Stick and bronze in the Padded Stick in the Lightweight category.

Daniela Ella Lasconia earned two bronze medals in the Featherweight category of the Padded Stick and Live Stick events. They were accompanied by Aileen Tranquillo.

Female track athletes Marialyn Pantaliano (3,000-meter Run and 5,000-meter Run) and Princess Joy Gildore (4×400-meter Relay) both won bronze in their respective events.

The duo of Charisse Mendoza and Diana Patria garnered silver in Badminton Women’s Doubles. They were coached by Jaclyn Joyce Bascar.

CHMSU’s women’s team also won silver in the E-Sports (Mobile Legends Bang Bang). The winning team–composed of Chena Bajillo, Bonavie Bat-og, Vernie Jaica Danico,  Mary June Gallano, Angel Mae Herman, and Dhenby Grace Tabuada–was mentored by head coach Manuel Andres Buncio.

Pickup player Reynalene Arroyo won gold together with the winning Futsal Team from the State University of Northern Negros.

Marille Aquino, Erica Jane De La Cruz, and Abcde Faith Taquiso, who played as pickup players, aided the Northern Iloilo State University in taking the gold in Women’s Softball.

Edrian Chua also earned the bronze for the 200-meter Individual Medley in Men’s Swimming.

Lastly, the CHMSUan volleybelles clinched the bronze for Women’s Volleyball. 

The team was composed of Spices Agbas, Nellyn Joy Amacio, Mary Melony Amaro, Gena Anjao, Arabela Belonio, Carin Benjamin, Nikah Gem Bravo, Andreana Dungog, Sofia Jane Ladrillo, Janel Lumawag, Jamel Soberano, and Jessrylle Rosa Togle.

The team was supported by pickup players Kayla Gene Daquero (Iloilo Science and Technology University), Christi RG Pacete (University of Antique), and Hannah Charize Cabrobias (West Visayas State University).

The team was mentored by head coach Maricel Suyo and assistant coach Mark Dave Baylosis.

The participation of the CHMSU Visayan Spotted Deer athletic teams were facilitated by the the Sports Affairs Office led by Director Jyan Rome Bascar.
