FOSTER Week 2025 simultaneously begins across four campuses

The CHMSU University Student Governments of Alijis, Binalbagan, Fortune Towne, and Talisay campuses simultaneously opened the week-long FOSTER (Fresher’s Orientation and Seminar for Educational Responsibility) Week on September 2, 2025.

Themed “Sigahúm: Pagbay-bay sa Lawag sang Handum,” the FOSTER Week is CHMSU’s unique way to welcome new students by introducing the various facets of student life and education at the university.

It aims to help first-year students transition into university life by encouraging participation in extracurricular activities and fostering connections between new students and established campus organizations across different academic disciplines.

The FOSTER Week is in partnership with the Office for Student Affairs, in collaboration with the college student councils, clubs, and organizations.

The Alijis Campus kicked off the Foster Week 2025 with a series of talks and lectures that provided new students with important information about CHMSU’s thrusts, programs, policies, and initiatives.

New students at the Binalbagan Campus explored the booth of various programs and students clubs as the first day of FOSTER Week began.

Executive Director Joevelle Vergara, College of Fisheries Dean Imee Perante, and College of Criminal Justice OIC Dean Mitchell Lopez led the ribbon cutting of the exhibits.

Earlier in the morning, the first-year and transfer joined the Holy Mass followed by the opening program and orientation.

The CHMSU Fortune Towne Campus community began the FOSTER Week and first day of face-to-face classes with a Holy Mass.

The new students were welcomed by campus and college officials, faculty, staff, and student leaders. Fortune Towne Campus Executive Director Ruvy Tuble, College of Business Management and Accountancy Dean Marissa Quezon, and CBMA Associate Dean Nenette Padilla led the CHMSU community welcoming the first-year and transfer students.

The first day of Foster Week 2025 in Talisay Campus continued with the morning program after the Holy Mass, which highlighted the mission, vision, and core values of the university, along with CHMSU’s thrusts in the academics, administration, research, extension, and intellectual property management.

The first-year and transfer students heard enriching talks and speeches from Vice President for Academic Affairs Jay Estrellas, Asst. VPAA and OIC VP for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property Ma. Riza Manalo, Director Rhoderick Samonte of the Center for Internationalization and External Relations, Supervising Administrative Officer Sharon Juance, and Director Maria Victoria Violanda of the Office for Student Affairs and Services.

Also joining in welcoming students were College of Arts and Sciences Dean Arjay Alvarado, College of Education Dean Ophelia Duayan, College of Engineering Dean Engr. Grace Gerona, and College of Industrial Technology Ddean Angelie Lopez together with units heads, faculty, staff, and students leaders.

The C-USG Talisay also held the ribbon-cutting ceremony held outside the university gym in Talisay campus. The event brought together 27 student clubs and organizations to promote campus involvement and student engagement.

Neil Kevin Natabio, C-USG Talisay President, delivered opening remarks for the ceremony, while student Senator Llyra Bianca Palermo provided an inspirational message to attendees.

The event showcased the diversity of student organizations at CHMSU, with all 27 participating clubs representing various academic disciplines and special interests. Participating organizations included DOST, Psychology Society, Public Administration Student Society, Vox Populi, Circle Peer Facilitators, Social Science Guild, AYCM, Red Cross Youth, SPED Society, ECE Guild, Wordsmiths, CHMSU Creatives Guild, CHMSU Debate League, Sports Club, SSPEM, MAFIAS, MATHRIX, OSSE, TELLS, PEACE ADVOCATES, FILIPINO PATRIOTS, YREAH, HECs, ACIP, PICE, ACES, General Dynasty, and The Technopacer Talisay.
