Over 60 students, staff, and personnel of CHMSU Talisay availed the free eye check-up courtesy of the C-University Student Government Talisay through the “Love at First Sight: A Free Eye Check-Up” on February 23.
The selected member of the CHMSU community, who previously registered last week, had their complimentary eye examinations at the C-USG office.
The beneficiaries were chosen on a first-come, first-served basis via online application.
Priority was also accorded to students with prior eye check-ups or diagnosed eye issues, contingent upon submission of relevant documentation.
The list of eligible students was posted on the official Facebook page of the student government, with a request for reconfirmation of attendance.
“The activity aims to provide free eye check-ups to the deserving student, especially those students who have identified eye problems”, said C-USG, President Gerald Guevarra.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Ralph Eric Jardeleza said studying always passes through the optic nerve almost 70% to 80% of what you learn you read in books.
“Likewise, Teachers take their exams from books, not in lectures, being in a class solely a have deep reason to read your books that why vision is important.”
School guidance counselor Julian Sian, Jr said availed of check-up because I realized that I needed it because I can’t properly see, so I grabbed this opportunity.
“Because it is free and my lack of time due to work. I decided to avail this service since I also work here and at the same time to check if I have indeed an astigmatism”, said Sam Sheerwin Santillana, an job order employee at the Accounting Office.
As a student who uses glasses, Llyra Bianca Palermo, a BPED student, said she felt the need to undergo an eye check. “Since this opportunity is free, so why not grab it?” she said.
