The CHMSU Debate Team B bagged the 2nd place during the LOKALympics: Talastasan Semifinals and Championship rounds held on October 8, 2025, at SM City Bacolod. Meanwhile, the CHMSU Team A competed in a heated match in the semifinals.
Organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bacolod City, the LOKALympics is an annual series of competitions held in October in celebration of the Local Government Month.

The CHMSU Team B, composed of BA English Language students, featured speakers Ma. Christine Aguilar, Von Bacus, and Jennica Calinao. Supporting them as researchers were Kyla Allondra Bugtay, Ray Jezrel Centurion, and Lorden Jurisprudencia.
Under the guidance of Coach Jansen Tumabing, they clinched second place after facing the team from the University of St. La Salle in the championship round in the motion: “This House moves for the replacement of the current barangay governance system.”

Also making it to the semifinals was CHMSU Debate Team A, composed of Jhon Dave Larra (BSED Science), Tanya Aguirre (BS Psychology), Josiah Shem Sumagaysay (BS Civil Engineering, Kimberly Denise Ceriaco (BS Psychology), Althea Kammel Geaga (BS Psychology), and Rionelyn Erespe (BSED Science), mentored by Coach Sensei Adorador.
Both teams were proudly accompanied by BA Social Science Program Chairperson Robert Pardillo and BAEL Program Chairperson Ruth Nemenzo.
The Elimination Round of DILG Bacolod City’s LOKALympics: Talastasan last October 2, 2025 at the President’s Hall of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos where both teams triumphed and moved to the next round.
Sumagaysay and Bacus also received a special recognition as the Best Speakers of the Elimination Round.
