The Gender and Development Office (GAD) of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) successfully conducted the two-day GEEGAD Curriculum Review, Revision, and Teachers’ Upskilling on July 23–24, 2026, at the Global Learning Cafe (Dining Hall) & University Library in Talisay (Main) Campus.
The activity gathered GEEGAD faculty from across the university’s campuses to strengthen the delivery of the GEEGAD course through curriculum enhancement and professional development sessions.

The event opened on July 23 with a welcome Message from Prof. Rose Regala, GAD Coordinator of the Binalbagan Campus, followed by a message of support from Engr. Russel Dela Torre, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and an inspirational message from President Norberto Mangulabnan delivered by VP for Administration and Finance Jay Estrellas.
Director Ana Mary Ann H. Pancho, Director for Gender and Development, presented the rationale for the activity.
The morning session centered on the Review, Revision, and Approval of the GEEGAD Syllabus and Worktext, during which faculty reviewed the course syllabus and shared observations and experiences highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the GAD course through a SWOT analysis.
The session concluded with a discussion to determine components of the curriculum requiring revision or improvement, facilitated by Director Leizl May Tortogo of the Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development (CIMD) Unit.
In the afternoon, faculty upskilling began with a session on Sex, Gender, Diversity, and Reproductive Health Issues and Concerns, with the resource speaker Prof. Calvin Dave Ganub, University Counselor of the University of St. La Salle.
Day 2 continued the upskilling sessions with Atty. Andrea Lizares Si, Adviser to the Philippine Commission on Women for the Province of Negros Occidental, further examined applicable legal frameworks supporting GAD implementation.
A session titled “The Green Culture and Its Practices – The CHMSU Way” was also presented as part of the teachers’ upskilling program with Director Rhoderick Samonte of the Center for Internationalization and External Relations in the afternoon.
The two-day activity concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Methuselah Daba-ay, GAD Coordinator of the Alijis Campus, followed by the giving of certificates to participants. The event was hosted by Prof. Ann Charyl Gallo, GAD Coordinator of the Fortune Towne Campus.
The GEEGAD Curriculum Review, Revision, and Teachers’ Upskilling forms part of CHMSU’s continuing commitment to gender-responsive education, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).
Through this initiative, the university reaffirms its dedication to equipping GEEGAD faculty with updated knowledge, strengthened instructional materials, and a curriculum reflective of current legal and social realities.
