Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) Fortune Towne Campus formally inaugurated and blessed its new Male Dormitory on July 28, 2026, alongside several other newly completed and renovated campus facilities, marking a major milestone in the university’s continuing drive for accessible and inclusive higher education.

The ceremony also included the blessing of the Student Park, Medical Clinic, Rana Hall comfort rooms, open court, covered court, parking space, and the connecting bridge linking the College of Business and Management Administration (CBMA) to the Information Technology (IT) building, with the blessing led by Rev. Fr. Chris Gonzales, Parish Priest of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish.
The male dormitory project, funded through the 2025 Capital Outlay of the General Appropriations Act, carries a total cost of ?12.5 million. The dormitory is intended to serve as a safe, secure, and nurturing home for male students who travel long distances or come from geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.

In her welcome message, Fortune Towne Campus Executive Director Ruvy Tuble said, “This facility is envisioned to become a home away from home for those male students who travel long distances or come from geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities. We believe that quality education extends beyond classrooms and laboratories.”
Director Tuble also thanked University President Norberto Mangulabnan, the CHMSU Board of Regents, key university offices, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) regional agency offices in Negros Island Region, and Hummingbird Construction and Supply Corporation for making the project possible.
The program also included the ceremonial turnover of keys by Project Engineer Jepty Cayao of Hummingbird Construction and Supply Corporation to Director Tuble and Vice President for Administration and Finance Jay Estrellas.

On behalf of President Mangulabnan, VP Estrellas said, “We are establishing a sanctuary inside Fortune Towne where our male students can rest peacefully, study effectively, and build lifelong bonds of brotherhood. The structure directly eliminates the heavy burdens of long commutes and unsafe housing, allowing our students to channel their full energy into their studies, their creative talents, and their personal growth.”
VP Estrellas also challenged incoming student residents to treat the facility with respect and to set a high standard of stewardship for the generations who will follow.

DBM-NIR Acting Regional Director Cherry Bravo said, “This dormitory stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, responsible stewardship of public funds, and a common vision of providing quality services to our students. May this facility become a home that nurtures discipline, camaraderie, and academic excellence for generations of CHMSU students.”
Also present during the blessing and ceremonial turnover were, VP for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property Ma. Riza Manalo, Alijis Campus Executive Director Glen Peter Garcia, Binalbagan Campus Director Joevelle Vergara, College of Business Management and Accountancy Dean Nenette Padilla, faculty, and staff.
