CAS, NYLI unveil psychosocial care program for Negros children youth

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute, Inc. (NYLI) unveiled the A.M.L.I.G. (Accelerating Missions of Young Leaders for Inclusive Growth) Program with an agreement signing on October 23, 2026.

The partnership was formalized in a ceremony held at the RIE Hub Conference Room at the Talisay Campus.

Leading the university were OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs Arjay Alvarado, CAS OIC-Dean Jose Lizael Lampinez, and Research and Development Services Director Ivy Aboy, who concurrently serves as Vice President for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property.

With them were Director for Extension and Community Services Wanny Jaron, Director for Internationalization and External Relations Rhoderick Samonte, and Extension Program Leader Aileen Tranquilo.

NYLI was represented by its Executive Director, Kevin Gaitan.

The A.M.L.I.G. Program is a research-based community psychosocial support initiative for children and youth in Negros Island. It includes Project H.O.P.E., Project Abyan, and the Project C.H.A.N.G.E. modules.

The partnership aims to strengthen community-based mental health and psychosocial support through the collaboration of psychology professionals, guidance counselors, volunteers, and youth leaders.

It will support the delivery of center- and community-based interventions, including initiatives implemented at Hulot Sang Pamatan-on, NYLI’s safe space center for children and youth.

Under the agreement, CHMSU will contribute professional expertise, volunteers, and evidence-informed interventions to address the psychosocial needs of children and young people in the region.

NYLI, through its Center for Health and Well-being, will provide program support, coordinate volunteer deployment, and facilitate partnerships with other academic institutions.

After the MOA signing in the morning, a module writeshop was held with project leaders and members at the Psychology Laboratory in preparation for the next phase of the program. The signing and writeshop was facilitated by the Extension and Community Services.

The activity marked the start of collaborative efforts to develop program modules and strengthen the delivery of community-based mental health and psychosocial support interventions.
