Faculty regent to lead DICT-NIR online training on data-driven governance

Engr. Manuel Uy, Faculty Representative to the Board of Regents, will serve as resource speaker for a three-day online training on the Data-Driven Governance Competency Framework on October 27-29, 2026, organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology – Negros Island Region (DICT-NIR).

Engr. Uy, a faculty member of the College of Computer Studies at the Fortune Towne Campus, will lead the course, which is designed to strengthen participants’ skills in data governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and data quality.

The activity is facilitated by DICT-NIR’s ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau.

He will also guide participants in exploring how cloud and digital technologies can improve public service delivery and support evidence-based decision-making in government.

The training is open to qualified participants, including government leaders, IT managers, Data Protection Officers (DPOs), and data strategy and governance policymakers. Interested applicants may register through the official registration link: https://tinyurl.com/DataGovernanceRegistration.

DICT-NIR clarified that registration does not guarantee qualification or participation. Only qualified participants will receive the Zoom meeting link and confirmation via email.

The activity supports ongoing efforts to build a more accountable, efficient, and data-driven public sector by equipping government personnel with the knowledge and tools to manage data responsibly and use it effectively in policy and service delivery.
