CHMSU students and volunteers joined the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF) in a coastal clean-up in Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City on March 10, 2023. The Technical University of the Philippines Visayas (TUPV), Dungganon Bank Inc., and the Talisay LGU and City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CENRO) also participated in the activity.
The NWTF organized the clean-up in line with its initiatives for the environment and in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The activity kicked off with a message from NWTF Assistant Manager for Strategic Partnerships Andy L. Coscolluela. “It is our responsibility to practice keeping our environment and surroundings clean all the time, not just today,” Coscolluela said. This was followed by messages from Brgy. Zone 3 Captain Renelia Garcia-Discutido, CHMSU Director for Internationalization and External Relations Rhoderick K. Samonte, and TUP-V External Affairs Director Rutchel Pabalinas.
Engr. Peejay Nobles of CENRO Talisay gave a brief orientation on the waste segregation to guide the participants before the group proceeded to the barangay’s coast for the clean-up activity.
In his closing remarks, NWTF Assistant Director for Strategic Projects Raymond S. Serios thanked all the volunteers for their participation and shared that the NTWF and its partners would like to continue working with the community in looking for solutions for waste management.
