CHMSU and the Philippine Association of Functional Jaw Orthopedics – TMJ, Inc. conducted a Dental Health Caravan on February 23, 2023 as part of their joint celebration of the 19th National Dental Health Month.
Delegates from PAFJO-TMJ and select students from Talisay, Alijis, and Fortune Towne campuses joined the caravan.
The caravan started at Bacolod City Capitol Lagoon and made stops in the City of Bago, Municipality of Valladolid, Municipality of Pontevedra, and Municipality of Hinigaran, before ending in the Municipality of Binalbagan. Students helped distribute dental health kits and informative flyers to locals while the PAFJO-TMJ delegates paid their courtesy visit to the Office of the Mayor at each stop. Valladolid Mayor Hon. Enrique Miravalles personally welcomed the delegates when they arrived in the municipality.
Binalbagan Mayor Hon. Alejandro Mirasol and Vice Mayor Mary Ann Mirasol hosted a fellowship lunch with the delegates during their stop at the Municipal Hall. In his welcome message, Hon. Mirasol thanked the organizers for choosing Binalbagan as one of their beneficiaries.
The caravan culminated at CHMSU Binalbagan Campus where PAFJO-TMJ President Sheila Ortega-Cobcobo, DMD gave a talk to the students on dental health and temporomandibular disorders. Students received dental hygiene kits after the talk.
A blessing was held for the pump boat donated by PAFJO-TMJ, Inc. and the Rotary Club of Manila Phenomenal Dentists, followed by a coastal clean-up and mangrove planting activity participated by the delegates and students.
