GAD launches 18-day campaign to end VAWC

Gender and Development (GAD) Office kicked off the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) at Talisay (Main) Campus on November 21, 2022. This was organized in line with the national movement to end VAWC with the theme “UNITEd for a VAW-free Philippines”.

Administrators, faculty, staff, and students attended the kick-off ceremony. CHMSU Student Regent Justin Pronales, Faculty Regent Engr. Manuel A. Uy, PhD, Vice President for Administration and Finance Rosalinda S. Tuvilla JD, and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jay B. Estrellas, EdD shared their solidarity messages for the initiative. “We hope that after this, when you go back to your respective communities, you too become agents of this campaign,” Estrellas said.

As an act of commitment, member of the community tied orange ribbons around trees on campus and signed the campaign tarp displayed on the façade of the Green Building. Physical Education students and faculty member Rollie Caudeliosa followed with a quick dance exercise to the song “One Billion Rising”.

Binalbagan Campus GAD Coordinator Rose F. Regala presented the campaign activities scheduled until December 10, 2022.

GAD Director Elvie Samson, PhD closed the ceremony with a message of gratitude to people who were present and whose support has made this campaign possible.
