The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) College of Engineering successfully concluded its 4th Student Research Colloquium 2026 on May 29, 2026, at the CHMSU Alijis Library and Conference Room.

Held under the theme “Engineering Solutions and Smart Innovation for Sustainable Development,” the event brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals for a full day of academic engagement and capstone project evaluation.

The colloquium featured a comprehensive program in the morning beginning with the opening ceremony, followed by a poster presentation session.

The afternoon included the introduction of the External Review Committee and parallel evaluation sessions for both the Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE) programs.

A total of 147 participants took part in the event, including 50 BSCPE students, 67 BSECE students, faculty members, administrative guests, and five external panel evaluators representing both disciplines.

The event was organized under the leadership of proponents Engr. Josephine Salillas and Engr. Rene Salmingo.

The student capstone projects were evaluated based on their alignment with the “Smart Innovation” theme, technical functionality, professional standards, and real-world applicability across industry, agriculture, and daily life.

The colloquium also served as a platform for students to develop project management, communication, and leadership skills through hands-on event organization.
