A Month of Purpose: CHMSU joins May 2026 celebrations, observances

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University opens May 2026 with a month full of purpose and advocacy.

This month, the university joins the nationwide observance of the Anti-Graft and Corruption Awareness Month, Farmers’ and Fisherfolk Month, Hypertension Awareness Month, and the National Heritage Month.

CHMSU likewise takes part in two global celebrations: the Month of the Ocean and Global Road Safety Month.

Anchored on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a series of activities — from classroom engagements to university-wide events — will be held throughout the month, offering students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners meaningful platforms to champion the causes tied to these monthly themes.

Four SDGs Unplugged sessions are scheduled on May 6, 20, 27, and 28 at 1:30 PM, streaming live on Facebook and Zoom. Each session will feature speakers from partner government agencies, offices, and organizations who will tackle special topics on peace efforts, the importance of coastal communities, biodiversity conservation, and access to clean water.

The Medical Clinic will also host a virtual Hypertension Awareness Seminar via Facebook Live on May 6, open to the entire university community.

Additionally, the Records Management Office will conduct a Freedom of Information (FOI) Information Drive on May 18 at the Functional Hall, ETG Building, Talisay (Main) Campus.

Moreover, the CHMSU is also celebrating its 4th University Foundation Week from May 11 to 16. Stay tuned for the roster of activities open to all across the four campuses.
