The Federation of the CHMSU University Student Government conducted the activity “Glocal Echo: Bridging Global Standards with Local Excellence” on June 2, 2026, at the AFLEX, LSA Bldg. in the Talisay (Main) Campus.

The initiative served as an echo seminar of the Winter School Program 2025 hosted by CGC University in Mohali, Punjab, India, and aimed to share the best practices, key insights, and valuable experiences gained by the university’s delegates during their international engagement last January 4-14, 2026.

During the first session, Director Rhoderick Samonte of the Center for Internationalization and External Relations, presented CHMSU’s internationalization programs and student mobility initiatives since 2017.

He also highlighted various opportunities through which student organizations and university stakeholders can participate in international engagements, encouraging attendees to explore opportunities beyond the university’s borders and broaden their global perspectives.

Neil Kevin Natabio, Student Representative to the Board of Regents, discussed the importance of cultivating a glocal mindset—the ability to think globally while acting locally. As one of the Winter School delegates from CHMSU, he shared significant observations, experiences, and lessons from their stay in India, emphasizing how these insights can be adapted and applied within local communities.

Meanwhile, CUSG Binalbagan President Lorea Robles delivered a lecture on digital transformation and future-ready tools introduced during the academic sessions at CGC University.

Her presentation underscored the role of data and technology in empowering organizations and institutions to address local challenges and create meaningful impact.

Joining to deliver her opening remarks was Director Maria Victoria Violanda of the Office for Student Affairs and Services.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in gap analysis and project brainstorming workshops. Through these activities, they identified pressing local needs, explored relevant global concepts and best practices, and developed potential “glocal” approaches to address community concerns and opportunities.

The Glocal Echo served as a platform for CHMSUans to broaden their horizons, embrace global perspectives, and discover opportunities that can help them become catalysts for positive change in their respective communities. The activity was held in collaboration with the Center for Internationalization and External Relations.
