Binalbagan Campus held the Commencement Exercises for Class of 2023 at the Binalbagan Gym, Municipality of Binalbagan on June 19, 2023.
A total of 677 graduates from the College of Business Management and Accountancy, College of Computer Studies, College of Criminal Justice, College of Education and College of Fisheries were conferred their degrees.
Remia A. Aparri, Regional Director, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Regional Field Office VI, relayed the message of Commencement Speaker Atty. Demosthenes R. Escoto, National Director, BFAR, who was unable to make it to the ceremony.
In his message, Escoto acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the graduates in reaching their graduation day. “Today will be remembered as the day you evolve your personal narratives as no longer students, but achievers of this esteemed university. The degrees and diploma that you will be accepting today are recognition of your hardship throughout your academic journey, proving your knowledge and competence, well-deserved for all your efforts put into the years of studying.”
Escoto also thanked the university for putting Fisheries as a flagship program in Binalbagan Campus as it is a core industry in the country.
Atty. Louise Araneta-Marcos, First Lady of the Republic of the Philippines, also sent her warm congratulations to the graduates through a video message.
The program continued with the presentation of candidates by the respective college deans, followed by the conferment of degrees by Norberto P. Mangulabnan, PhD, SUC President III, and awarding of Latin Honors and presentation of diplomas.
Jim Paul R. Capitle, Magna Cum Laude, Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, gave his Graduate’s Message and congratulated not only his fellow graduates, but also the family, parents, and friends who were part of their journey. Meanwhile, Ruffa Mae T. Maquiling, Magna Cum Laude, Bachelor of Elementary Education, led the Class in the Pledge of Loyalty.
In closing, Andrew D. Ordonio, PhD, Vice President, Alumni Association of Binalbagan Campus, inducted the Class to the Association, and Rev. Fr. Radny T. Bayog, Binalbagan Parish Priest, gave the final blessing.
The ceremony officially ended with the singing of the CHMSU Hymn.
