Students of BS in Hospitality Management program brought home multiple medals in the recently concluded Grand Convention and Skills Competition of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines Negros Island and Siquijor Chapter (COHREP NISC) last May 20-21, 2024 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
CHMSU harvested a total of 3 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze medals throughout the two-day affair. The university had the biggest delegation with a total of 70 participants.
Jasper Alvarez, BSHM 4A, secured the gold in the Flair Bartending Competition. He was coached by Gilbert Taguines.
Meanwhile, Bryan Jimenez, BSHM 2B, clinched the gold in the Travel Vlog Competition with coach Nieves Barato.
Selected BSHM first and second year students, under the guidance of coach John Roland Valladazez, won gold in the Cultural Dance Competition.
Joemar Ticar, BSHM 2 B, won silver in the HM Quiz Bee. He was coached by Annielou Mana-ay.
The team of Ailse Singson (BSHM 3D) and Isaias Landero (BSHM 2C), ended in second place and silver medals for the Buffet Centerpiece Floral Arrangement Contest. They were guided by program chair Mana-ay, Taguines, and Zenaida Genolos.
Also bagging silver for the Tour Package Proposal Competition were the trio of Marvin Fullo (BSHM 4C), Shane Chavez (BSHM 3A), and Daniela Wills. They were also coached by Barato.
The team-of-three of Jan Alfred Adrias (BSHM 4A), Mary Gail Borromeo (BSHM 3C), and Ray Ann Dayon (BSHM 3C) secured the silver in the Event Management Proposal Contest, too. They were guided by coach Barato.
Maria Dolaota (BSHM 3D), Paulyn Belegorio (BSHM 3D), Remerose Arsenal (3C) also won silver in the Creative Cake Decorating Contest. They were coached by HM Program Chairperson Marnyl John Abeto.
The duo of Arianah Dimson (BSHM 3C) and James Ariel Roma (BSHM 2B) won bronze in the Inflight Safety Demonstration with the guidance of coach Barato.
Also winning bronze were BSHM 3D students Chinoe Arzaga and Bernadette San Jose for the Talking Bartender and Mocktail Mixing contests, respectively. They were both coached by Taguines.
